Step by Step Bike Registration
Certificate(RC) Transfer Process
transfer bike ownership
Any type of bike transfer process has to have a NOC from the local RTO where the bike was originally registered. One has to be familiar with the RTO process be it for vehicle registration or transfer of vehicle to another stare, another person, etc. The fundamental step for any kind of transfer is to obtain a NOC from the RTO where the bike was registered. The NOC is valid for a minimum time and all the documentation process has to be completed within that time frame.
For the two wheelers purchased on loans or with the help of a financier, an NOC should be obtained from the bank as well. A written application to the bank requesting for an NOC should be submitted along with the reason and a document supporting that reason like an employment letter, job transfer letter, new dress proof, etc. Once all these documents are verified, the bank or the financier will provide the NOC with a week or 10 days.
Here are the steps you have to follow for bike transfer:
Obtain a no objection certificate from the RTO where the bike was initially registered. If the vehicle was brought on loan then the NOC from the banker is also needed.
Documents required to issue NOC for other state:
- Form 28 application filled by the owner (4 copies)
- Attested Registration Certificate copy
- Paid road tax receipts
- Copy of Pollution Under Control (PUC) Certificate
- A valid two wheeler insurance policy
- Chassis imprint of the bike
Once you get the NOC from the RTO, you can transfer the bike to the new location via train or road ways or whichever is easiest for you.
Once the vehicle arrives in the new city, you have to re-register your bike in that city’s RTO. For example, if you have moved from Chennai to Bangalore, then your bike has to be now registered in Bangalore RTO. Following are the documents you will need to re-register the bike in new RTO:
- Paid road tax receipts
- Copy of Pollution Under Control (PUC) Certificate
- A valid two-wheeler insurance policy
- Chassis imprint of the bike
- Form 29 and 30 duly filled and signed by you
- Original Registration Certificate
- Identity proof
- NOC copy obtained from the old RTO
- Applicable registration fee
Once you submit all these documents to the new RTO, the verification and the process completion will take 2 weeks’ time. Once the verification is complete, then your bike will get a new registration number.
The re-registration process is not required if you are moving to any city in the country temporarily. Under the law, any individual who owns a two wheeler and which is registered properly in the RTO of city where the bike was purchased, can be driven without any hassles across the country for 12 months.
